Czech cultural week in Malta 2016
The Honorary Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Malta in association with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Rome is organizing a Czech Cultural Week held in Malta between 17thand 21st October 2016.
On this occasion, an exhibition on Emperor Charles IV celebrating the 700thanniversary of the birth of Emperor Charles IV will be held at the Chamber of Commerce in Republic Street, Valletta.
Charles IV (1316 – 1378), King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, stands among the most exceptional personalities of Czech and European history. Charles IV was an ambitious sovereign, shrewd politician, and urbanistic visionary.
The 700th anniversary of Charles IV‘s birth is a great reason to learn more about this king and emperor, as well as the city he made his home and loved above all others, Prague.The Bohemia Saxophone Quartette
The Honorary Consulate General will be bringing over to Malta a unique and most talented musical group The Bohemia Saxophone Quartette (www.bsq.cz). Two concerts held at the same venue in Valletta will be another occasion to discover Czech culture..
The Bohemia Saxophone Quartette is a professional ensemble of 4 musicians with the highest ability of interpretation of diverse types of music; their brilliant surprisingly colorful techniques, balanced, yet distinct sound, creative original arrangements of a wide ranging musical repertoire have helped them, ever since their foundation in 1990 to conquer not just concert halls or jazz stages but also theatres and churches for their concerts both in the Czech Republic and overseas.
The special concert being held on Friday 21st October at 8.00 pm open to the general public will be held in aid of the Brain Research programme of the University of Malta.
The concert free of charge will also be held at the Chamber of Commerce and reservations can be made by sending an e-mail on firstname.lastname@example.org. A donation in aid of the programme will be appreciated.
The Honorary Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Malta is pleased to support Research Trust (RIDT) of the University of Malta in its drive to bolster the research activity of the University through public support.
The culmination of the week will be the visit of the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Lubomír Zaoralek accompanied by a high level delegation. During his stay Mr. Lubomír Zaorálek will meet with Malta Government Officials and attend the Reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic.
