Maltese Minister of Finance, Investments and the Economy, Hon Mr Tonio Fenech headed a "Malta Business Mission" to Prague 16 - 17th March 2009

On arrival in Prague the Minister had an official meeting with Hon Minister Miroslav Kalousek, Czech Minister of Finance at the Ministry and later on in the evening attending a reception hosted by HSBC Bank Prague for members of the Maltese delegation and guests, which included Hon Milan Hovorka, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and Officials from the Ministery, Czech Trade and The Czech Chamber of Commerce.

On the 17th March at the Czech Chamber of Commerce, the Minister also addressed a Czech-Maltese Bussiness Forum which was attended by a large audience made up of Czech Businessmen and Officials from various Czech business Institutions. The Forum was also addressed by Mr Josef Cilek, Vice President for Foreign Relationspf the Czech Chamber, Mr Lubos Joza from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr Ernest Flamini, Honorary Consul of Malta to the Czech Republic representing the Malta Tourism Authority, Mr Peter Grima representing the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry and Finance Malta, Mr Oldrich Dubsky from Czech Invest Agency and Ms Lenka Tycova from teh Czech Chamber of Commerce. Mr Zdenek Kocarek, Director of Foreign Relations was the moderator of the meeting.

At the end of the Forum Mr Josef Cilek and Mr Peter Grima signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Maltas Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry and The Czech Chamber of Commerce.

After a buffet lunch for participants at the Forum, the members of the Maltese Delegation and Czech Businessmen participated in various pre-arranged "One 2 One" meetings.

Before his departure from Prague Hon. Minister Tonio Fenech had a formal meeting with Hon Deputy Minister Milan Hovorka at the Ministry of Industry and Trade when both sides exchanged views on ways and means of further strenghtening relations between the two countries also in view of the forthcoming Czeh Commercial delegation to Malta in May 2009.

A reception for members of the Maltese delegation and guests was hosted by Corinthia Hotel Prague as a conclusion of a most sucessfull business event.
