On the 18th of March 2014, His Excellency Prof. Godfrey Pirotta presented his Letters of Credence as Malta’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, based in Malta. The credentials were presented to H.E. Miloš Zeman, President of the Czech Republic. The ceremony was held at Prague Castle, where Ambassador Pirotta was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Mary Rose Pirotta, and Mr. Samuel Scicluna, First Secretary at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
During his stay, Ambassador Pirotta held meetings with senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, with representatives from the Office of the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and with the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic, H.E. Milan Štěch. The Ambassador also paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Dr. Bohuslav Sobotka, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. Apart from issues of common interest, ways of how bilateral cooperation between the two EU Member states could be further enhanced featured prominently on the agenda of talks.
Ambassador Pirotta is an academic at the University of Malta and is the Director of Institute of Public Administration & Management as well as a Professor of Public Policy at the Faculty of Economics, Management & Accountancy.
